The overall objective of the Thematic Network is to develop a National Project of Scientific and Technological Research in Information and comunicationTechnologies (ICT).

Among the specific objectives are:
 

• Analysis, presenting the "state of the art", of challenges and opportunities of ICT in Mexico.

• Develop a catalog of human resources, training programs for human resources and infrastructure in Mexico.

• Contribute to the development of proposals for multi-institutional academic projects in basic science by national interest arguing and sustaining its viability.

• Design and conduct of applied science projects with better potential for links with public and private sector. In addition to seeking funding from both domestic and foreign sources, priority is given to projects that allow executable diagrams and consider the solution of real problems of Mexican society.

• Consolidate a National Project of development of scientific and technological research in ICT.
